Note (General)
The institute of space and astronautical science (ISAS) is now developing a new type of super-pressure balloon along with the "lobed-pumpkin" type super-pressure balloon. The new developing super-pressure balloon, named "tawara" type balloon for its appearance, is expected to overcome deployment instabilities observed in the lobed-pumpkin type super-pressure balloons. In the present study, we investigate deployment stability of both balloons by finite element method, and have found that "tawara" type super-pressure balloons enjoy excellent deployment performance.
