Note (General): 本研究開発報告は、宇宙航空研究開発機構宇宙科学研究本部ISS科学プロジェクト室で実施されている、ライフサイエンス系細胞生物研究プロジェクトの2005年度作業の成果報告書である。本プロジェクトは,以下に挙げる2つの研究課題により構成されている。1.線虫C.elegansを用いた宇宙環境におけるRNAiとタンパク質リン酸化。2.ユビキチンリガーゼCbl-bによる筋萎縮の新規メカニズム。第1章は、モデル生物である線虫を用いた宇宙実験の地上予備実験および準備状況についての活動報告である。本課題は2004年に実施された第5回ライフサイエンス国際公募においてフライト候補テーマとして選定され、実施に向けた準備を進めている。また、同じく2004年に実施された線虫国際共同実験(ICE-First: International C.elegans Experiment-1)に関する研究成果についても含めて報告する。第2章では、培養細胞を用いた筋萎縮の新規メカニズムを提唱し実証を目指した研究課題であり、2000年に実施された第4回ライフサイエンス国際公募でフライト候補研究課題として選定された。本課題についてもISS/JEMでのフライト実験に向けた地上予備実験などが実施されたので、進捗状況について報告する。いずれの課題についてもスペースシャトルおよびISSの計画変更により、当初の準備予定の変更を余儀なくされたが、準備は順調に進んでおり、実験供試体開発着手に向けた実験計画のベースライン制定を目指し作業を展開している。
