Note (General): 宇宙飛行の初期に腰痛を経験する宇宙飛行士は多い。アメリカの宇宙飛行士の医学記録を検討した報告によれば、68％の宇宙飛行士が飛行中に腰痛を経験し、中等度から重度の腰痛が28％であったとされている、これらの腰痛への対処としては、体幹の運動(胎児のように脊柱を丸める姿勢)、あるいは脊柱への軸圧を加えるスーツなどがこれまで試みられている。一方、病気や怪我で長期間臥床を強いられた際にも、腰痛を自覚する人は意外に多いが、その実態は明らかでない。そこで、90日間のベッドレスト研究の被験者を対象に長期の安静臥床、Fly-Wheel(以下FW)運動、および体幹運動による腰痛の実態を調査し、宇宙飛行の際の腰痛対策に役立てることが本研究の目的である。
