Comprehensive researches on high-enthalpy flows and associated thermal protection technologies have been conducted in Aerodynamic Research Group, IAT, in cooperation with other research groups in JAXA. In this article, an over-view and the current status of two major research programs, improvement of assessment technologies of the planetary entry environments, and development of advanced prediction techniques of thermal protection system performance, are presented.
