Note (General): 真空槽内で14cm(25mN級)キセノンイオンエンジンを振子に載せ、作動時の変位を測定することにより、推力を測定した。測定に影響を与える要因を検討した結果、誤差は1パーセント程度であることがわかった。本測定で用いた推力測定装置の製作、調整、較正、実測等を通し、推力測定技術を確立することができた。実測値を、理想推力にイオンビーム広がりと2価イオンの補正を加えた計算値と比較した結果、両者はよく一致した。計算により求めた推力は実推力の103パーセント程度になることがわかった。
The thrust of a 14-cm xenon ion thruster was directly measured. The ion thruster was set on a pendulum, and the displacement of the pendulum depended on the thrust. The displacement was measured using a laser displacement meter. Estimated error in the thrust measurement was about 1 percent. The measured thrust was compared with the calculated thrust derived from the ideal thrust with compensation of doubly charged ions and ion-beam divergence. It was found that the calculated thrust was about 103 percent of the measured thrust.
