Note (General): 重力が、熱対流およびCVD(化学蒸着法)でのプラズマの挙動に与える影響について、MU-300型航空機を使用して予備実験を行った。この実験は、宇宙実験・観測フリーフライヤ/気相成長基礎実験装置ミッション(SFU/GDEF)の予備実験として実施したものである。低圧でのガス流を可視化した結果、微小重力下ではHeの熱対流は消失することが分かった。ガス温度のゆらぎが観測された。この現象は1Gおよび2Gでは認められない。プラズマ着火特性は微小重力下と1Gの条件下では異なる。GDEFミッションで計画しているメタン・水素混合気を用いての航空機実験は、次年実行の予定である。
An experimental study of gravitational effects on the convection and the behavior of plasma in CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition) process is performed utilizing the MU-300 aircraft. This experiment is conducted as the preliminary study of SFU (Space Flyer Unit)/GDEF (Gas Dynamics Experiment Facility) mission. Visualization of gas flow at low pressure shows that the thermal convection of He is eliminated in microgravity condition. Fluctuation of temperature of gas is observed in microgravity. It is synchronized with the g-jitter. This effect can not be observed in 1 g and 2 g conditions. The characteristics of plasma ignition are somewhat different between micro g and 1 g conditions. The airplane experiment using methane-hydrogen mixed gas, which will be used in GDEF mission, is planned in the next year.
