• Note (General): NASDAは、第2次国際微小重力実験室計画(IML-2)の一環として、1994年4月打ち上げ予定のスペースシャトルに、熱駆動流実験ユニット(TDFU)を搭載して行う実験を計画した。実験の目的は、微小重力下での気液分離の設計概念を得ようとするもので、これは現在進行中の気液2相流体ループ(2相循環熱管理システム)のコンポーネント(とくにアキュムレータとタンク)の設計に必要である。気液分離が毛細管力(表面張力)で得られることは知られているが、毛細管のコア構造、壁面の材質と処理法などの設計パラメータは整理されていない。TDFUの設計に資するため、これと同一仕様の寸法、材質、表面処理による航空機試験用のモデルを準備した。このモデルは銅製容器、ポリカーボネート製窓、銅製コアよりなり、液体としては水を用いる。銅表面は水との接触角が小さくなる(濡れ性が良くなる)ような処理を施した。この設計により、水は毛細管力および/または表面張力のため、微小重力下でコアの方向に流れる。パラボリックフライト投入前の加速度方向の効果を得るために、平行状およびテーパ状の6種類のコア(コア板)形状を用意した。コア形状、水量、および非凝縮ガスの有無の効果を観測した。これらの実験結果から、微小重力下での流体は、界面エネルギーが小さくなる方向へ移動すること、また、平行コアに比較して、テーパコアの気液分離機能、液保持機能が優れていることを確認した。実験では、これらの機能がコアのテーパ角に比例し、コアの間隔の2乗に反比例して大きくなるという理論予測を補強するデータを取得することができた。; The experiment of Thermally Driven Flow Unit (TDFU) under micro-gravity was planned by NASDA as a part of Second International Micro-Gravity Laboratory (IML-2) scheduled to be launched in 1994. The purpose of this experiment is to establish the design concept of liquid reorientation and transfer under micro-gravity condition, which is required for the component design of on going development two-phase fluid loop thermal management system (especially for accumulator/reservoir design). Although it is known that liquid reorientation is achieved by capillary force (surface tension), the design parameter such as capillary core structure, wall material and kind of treatment are not well put in order. In order to support TDFU design, the model for aircraft test was prepared, whose size, material and surface treatment are the same as that of TDFU. This model was composed of copper container, polycarbonate window, copper core and water as liquid. The copper surfaces are treated so as to be reduced contact angle with water (to have good wettability). Due to this design, water flows into the core under micro-gravity condition by capillary force and/or surface tension. Six types of core shape (core plate) -parallel and tapered- were prepared to obtain the effect of (1) core shape. Also observed are effects of (2) acceleration direction before micro-gravity condition, (3) water quantity and (4) existence of non-condensible gases. It is confirmed from this experiment that, among other parameters core shape is most dominant for liquid reorientation, ie., it is observed that, as core angle is made larger and as average core separation (equivalent to capillary gap) is made smaller, the liquid reorientates to the core more easily and vapor to out side of the core.; 資料番号: AA0000737004; レポート番号: NASDA-TMR-960020
