Note (General): 微小重力環境をシミュレートするために航空機によるパラボリックフライトを用いると、幾つかの摂動源(航空機の回転、微小重力の直前および直後の高重力、およびgジッタ)のすべてが微小重力期間中の試験流体の挙動に影響を与える。自由表面のある場合および無い場合の両方について摂動の影響結果を検討した。自由表面のある場合はマランゴニ対流で実験を行った。流体の流れを観測するのが極めて困難であった結果から見て、自由表面がgジッタに対し特に敏感であることが分かった。自由表面のない場合については1994年に予定されているIML-2ミッションで搭載される実験の予備試験である。試験流体が航空機の回転と共に回転することを観測した。
When using the parabolic airplane flights to simulate microgravity, all of several sources of perturbation (rotation of the airplane, high gravity just before and after microgravity, and g-jitter) have an effect on the behavior of the test fluid during the period of microgravity. The result of such perturbations was investigated both cases of with and without a free surface. The free surface case was an experiment on Marangoni convection. It turned out that the free surface was particularly sensitive to g-jitter, with the result that observing the fluid flow was quite difficult. The case without a free surface is a preliminary run of an experiment planned to be flown on the 1994 IML-2 mission. It was observed that the test fluid rotated together with rotations of the airplane.
