Note (General): NASDAは微小重力下の溶融金属から気泡を除去する技術を開発している。気泡除去の方法には各種あるが、電磁力を使う方法を採用し、この方法の適用性を調べた。これは、微小重力下で、回転磁界による流れ中の気泡移動を観察した実験報告である。実験には、不導体のシリコーンオイルを満たした円筒形容器を用いて、航空機中で気泡の運動を観察した。容器には磁場の回転とともに回転するアルミニウムの輪を挿入して、実際の物質の流れをシミュレートした。地上での実験では浮力の影響で気泡は上方へ移動したのに対し、微小重力下での気泡は回転の軸に沿って回転する流れ場の方へ移動するのを観察した。実験と解析の結果から、この方法の効率性を確信し、気泡移動の基礎データを得た。
The technology to remove bubbles from molten materials under microgravity condition is being developed by National Space Development Agency of Japan. The electromagnetic force in various methods for driving bubbles was chosen and the applicability has been investigated. This report provides the result of the microgravity experiment in the aircraft to observe bubbles motion in the flow led by the rotating magnetic field. In this experiment, a cylindrical vessel filled with nonconductive silicone oil was used to observe the bubbles motion in the aircraft. It simulated the flow in real materials that the aluminum ring forced to revolve by the rotating magnetic field was inserted in that vessel. The bubbles were found to be driven towards the rotating flow field along with the axis of rotation different from the ground experiment result in which bubbles moved upwards by the effect of buoyancy. Through this experiment and analysis, the efficiency of this method was confirmed and the fundamental data of the bubbles motion was obtained.
