Note (General): 自由噴流は、気体と物体表面との干渉や分子線の応用などの工学的見地から興味深い現象である。また、工業的応用からは混合気体の質量分離、半導体の薄膜製造のための分子線エピタキシー技術などに関連して注目されている。大きな低圧室へオリフィスまたはノズルから高圧空気を噴出させると、断面積の変化を非常に大きくとれば、流路に束縛されない自由噴流が得られる。本報告では、まずアルゴンイオンレーザを用いたレーザ誘起蛍光(Laser Induced Fluorescence: LIF)法による自由噴流の可視化用の実験装置を製作したのでその概要について述べる。次に、アルゴンガスにヨウ素を添加した気体を2種類のソニックノズルを通して膨張させ、連続流から自由分子流に至る自由噴流の可視化とその構造解析を画像処理により行った結果について報告する。
Free jets are interesting phenomena from an engineering point of view, for example from that of interaction between gases and solid surfaces and the application of molecular beam. In industry, free jets are utilized in mass separation of mixed gases and are also widely in related molecular beam epitaxy technology for manufacturing thin film from semiconductors. Free jets can be obtained by the expansion of gases from a high pressure chamber to a low pressure chamber through orifices or nozzles with a sufficiently large cross section ratio. This paper provides a brief outline of an experimental apparatus for flow visualization by LIF (Laser Induced Fluorescence) method using an argon ion laser. Experimental results obtained by flow visualization of argon free jets mixed with iodine (I2) from continuum to free molecular flow regime are also shown and analysis of the jet structures using image processing discussed.
