• Note (General): 非常に軽い宇宙用構造部材を製造することを目的として、合金を被覆した短い高剛性の無機繊維集合体を被覆合金の融点以上に加熱･保持した後、急冷して合金を凝固させることにより、空隙を多く含み、強い短繊維間結合を得るための実験を行った。材料には、繊維として炭素繊維、被覆金属としてAl-1at%In合金を用いた。炭素繊維とAlは濡れ性が悪いため、予備実験として、Alにいろいろな合金元素を添加して、炭素繊維に対するAlの濡れ性の改善を図った。この予備実験の結果に対して、液体の表面張力、Al合金の表面張力、吸着、固体-液体の界面張力、固体の表面張力などの検討を行い、炭素繊維に対するAlの濡れ性の最も高い合金として、Al-1at%Tl、Al-1at%PbならびにAl-1at%Inを選定した。また、本研究で対象とする複合材料の概念とその製造に及ぼす微小重力の効果を明らかにするため、シミュレーション実験も行った。シミュレーションでは、炭素繊維の代わりにナイロン線を、被覆材としてワックスを用い、重力下と微小重力下での実験を行った。さらに、高弾性炭素繊維にAl-1at%Tlをイオンプレテングした試料をTT-500型ロケットに搭載し、試料の加熱･冷却を行って作製した複合材料の構造を調べた結果についても報告した。これらの予備実験の後、SL-J上で実施した6個の試料に対する走査型電子顕微鏡による観察と圧縮試験の結果を簡単に述べ、複合材料の機械的特性の評価を行った。強度的に満足のいく材料は得られなかったが、目的とする構造を得る目途は立った。; In order to produce very light structural material for space use, the experiment for obtaining many voids and strong fiber coupling was performed by heating alloy coated inorganic short fiber assembly with high rigidity over melting point of the alloy and holding the fiber assembly in same state and then quenching and solidifying the alloy. The used materials are carbon fiber as fiber and Al-1 at percent In alloy as coating metal. Because of bad wetness between Al and carbon fiber, the preliminary experiment for improving wetness of Al to carbon fiber was performed by adding various alloy elements to Al. After considering the results of the preliminary experiment as to surface tension of liquid, surface tension of Al alloy, adsorption, interfacial tension of solid-liquid, surface tension of solid, etc., it was determined that Al-1 at percent Tl, Al-1 at percent Pb and Al-1 at percent In alloy had the highest wetness. In order to make clear the concept of target composite materials in this study and effect of microgravity on production procedures, simulation test was also performed. Using a nylon wire instead of carbon fiber and wax as coating material in the simulation test, comparison was made under gravity and microgravity environment. Further, the results of investigations on structures of composite materials produced by heating and cooling the ion plated to high elastic carbon fiber sample boarded on TT-500 type rocket are also reported. After the observation of six samples used for the experiment conducted on Space Lab-Japan (SL-J) with scanning type electronmicroscope following above mentioned preliminary experiment and results of compression test were briefly reported, mechanical characteristics of the composite materials was evaluated based on these results.
