Note (General): スクラムジェットエンジの研究開発において、飛行試験は地上試験および計算機シミュレーションと同様に重要である。空気取り入れ口流の淀み点の超高温度および圧力は、地上試験装置では作り得ず飛行試験で達成できる。それで飛行試験はシミュレータプログラムの検証に用いられる。種種の技術的問題解決手段として、次の3シリーズの飛行試験を提案する。フェーズ0:ロケットブースタの先端に単段縮尺エンジンモジュールを取り付けた飛行試験システムの構築、およびこのシステムを用いた地上試験結果との比較検討。フェーズ1:マッハ数10における統合化エンジンエアフレームの影響試験。フェーズ2:マッハ数16における実物大エンジンモジュールのスケール効果調査試験。以上の3フェーズにわたる試験機およびエンジンの概念設計研究を行った。
In the research and development of scramlet engines, flight tests are as important as ground tests and computer simulations. Extremely high stagnation temperature and pressure of the incoming air flow, which cannot be produced by ground test facilities, can be achieved in flight test. Thus, flight tests can be used to validate computer simulation codes. To achieve various technical breakthroughs, three series of flight tests are proposed. Phase zero is to establish a flight test system using a single sub-scale engine module attached on the top of a rocket booster and to compare the result with that of ground tests. In Phase one, effects of engine-airframe integration is tested at Mach ten. Larger engine modules are tested to investigate scale effects at Mach 16 in Phase two. Conceptual studies on the test vehicles and the engines for the three phases are conducted.
