3種類の翼型について、失速特性の予測に関する数値計算を行った。レイノルズ平均したナビエ-ストークス方程式を解くため、Roeの風上差分法とローカルタイムステップ積分法を用いた。収束を早めるために、マルチグリッドアルゴリズムを用いた。代数型ボールドウィン-ロマックス法と2方程式低レイノルズ補正型Chenのκ-εモデルの2種類の乱流モデルについて、数値結果と実験結果を比較することで評価した。ボールドウィン-ロマックス・モデルは、前縁失速型と極めて良く合ったが、他の翼型を説明するためにはκ-εモデルが必要であった。この結果、それぞれの乱流モデルの失速予測は翼の失速型、即ち、前縁失速型と後縁失速型、あるいは薄翼失速型に依存していることを示した。航空機設計に際して失速特性を予測するためには、さらに改良した乱流モデルと完全な試験データが必要であった。
A numerical study was carried out on stall characteristics prediction for three types of airfoil. Roe's flux difference splitting upwind scheme and LU-ADI (Lower Upper-Alternating Direction Implicit) factorized implicit time integration were used to solve Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equation. A multigrid algorithm was used to accelerate the convergence. Two kinds of turbulence models, Baldwin-Lomax algebraic model and Chen's two equation kappa-epsilon models were assessed by comparing the numerical results with experimental. Baldwin-Lomax model shows fairly good agreement for leading-edge-stall type airfoil, but kappa-epsilon model is required for other type airfoils. The results show that stall prediction for each turbulence model depends on the airfoil stall type, that is leading-edge-stall type, trailing-edge stall type, or thin-airfoil-stall. Still further improvement of turbulence models are required to predict stall characteristics for aircraft design, and complete test data are also needed for this purpose.
