IntelとAlphaのチップを使った並列計算システムを開発した。Intelのチップを使用したシステムはすべて市販の部品、つまりIntel-Celeron300A-CPU、SD-RAM(シンクロナス・ダイナミック・ランダムアクセスメモリー)の128MBメモリーボード、そしてLinux-OSで製作した。各ユニット間の通信には、通信速度が毎秒100Mbitの100BASE-TXカードを装備したEthernetを使用した。また、ライブラリとしてMPICH(相互通信インタフェイス)を用いて相互通信を行った。並列計算プログラムとしては、QR(最小2乗)法、LU分解法、有限体積法によるいくつかのコードを開発した。この研究の1部は東京理科大学、計算科学フロンティア研究センターの支援を受けた。
Construction of parallel computer systems for Intel and Alpha chips has been performed in the laboratory. The former is made from all commercial parts i.e. Intel Celeron 300A CPUs, SD-RAM (Synchronous Dynamic Random Access Memory) 128 MB memory boards and Linux OS. An Ethernet with a 100BASE-TX card that has a message rate of 100 Mbit per second is used for communication between each unit. The MPICH (Message Passing Interface) library uses a message-passing interface. Some kinds of parallel programs have already been developed using the QR (least square) methods, the LU decomposed method, and a finite volume method for use in a parallel computer. A part of this research was supported by Frontier Research Center for Computational Science in Science University of Tokyo.
