• Note (General): イオンエンジンの寿命試験において、評価精度を上げ、また試験効率を改善するため、イオンエンジン試験装置の真空槽内に設置されているターゲットの改修を行った。主な改修目的は次の4つである。1)ターゲットのイオン衝突面に新たな機構を取り入れることにより、スパタ物質によるイオンエンジンの汚染を減少させる。2)ターゲットからのフロンガス漏れを解消し、クライオパネルの真空排気能力を長時間確保する。3)ターゲットからの熱放射を減少させ、クライオパネルの真空排気能力を向上させる。4)ターゲットは絶縁状態で真空装置内に設置されている必要があり、電気絶縁を強固にする。このため、新たにターゲットを設計・製作した。新ターゲットを試用したところ、幾つかの問題点が生じたため、それらの対策のため改修も行った。本製作によって、1)については、イオンの斜め入射によってスパタの低減を図るため、イオン衝突器を考案した。2)については、フロンガスの漏れ箇所がフランジ継手であることを突き止め、継手を大気側に移した。3)については、ターゲットの基板板厚の増加や基板へのフロン配管の配置間隔を狭めるなどを実施し、熱伝導の改善を図り、基板温度を低下させた。また、ターゲット製作における多くの知見が得られた。; The ion beam target installed in an ion thruster test facility was improved to attain higher test efficiency and evaluation accuracy in ion thruster lifetime tests. There were four main objectives for this improvement: 1) to reduce the contamination of the ion thruster due to back-sputtered material by introducing a new mechanism to the ion bombarding surface of the target, 2) to operate the vacuum-pumping capability of the cryopanel longer by eliminating flon gas leakage from the target, 3) to increase the vacuum-pumping capability of the cryopanel by reducing thermal radiation from the target, and 4) to increase the electrical isolation capability of the target from the vacuum chamber, necessary to simulate ion thruster operation in space. To achieve these objectives, a new target was designed and fabricated, and installed in the vacuum chamber of the ion thruster test facility. Trial operation of the facility presented several problems with regard to the new target. Improvements were carried out to solve these problems. For 1), a new ion collector was devised to reduce back-sputtering from the target by creating a sharp oblique incidence of ions. For 2), the leakage of flon was found to occur at the flange couplers in the vacuum chamber, so these were moved to positions outside the vacuum chamber. For 3), the temperature of the target baseplate was lowered by improving the heat transfer efficiency, achieved by increasing the thickness of the target baseplate and arranging the flon piping more densely on the target.
