Note (General): An extension of the free stream-line theory of the Kirchhoff type is described. The points of extension are essentially the following two:(i)The velocity gradient at the prescribed separation point remains finite. (ii)The velocity along the free stream-line is allowed to vary rather than always being held constant. As a result of the extension, the theory comes to satisfy the necessary conditions of the inviscid external flow compatible with the separated boudary layer and wake.
