Note (General): Measurements of spontaneous ignition delay have been conducted for mixtures of atomized kerosine and air at pressures from 1 MPa to 4 MPa under weakly vitiated conditions (18～19.3 O2％). Equivalence ratios are 0.3 and 0.6. The apparatus is comprised of a preburner, a multi venturi fuel injector, a premixing tube of 45.3 mm in diameter and 200 mm in length, and an afterburner. The variation of the equivalence ratio from 0.3 to 0.6 is found to have no appreciable effect on the measured ignition delay. Ignition delay shortens as pressure increases up to 3 MPa. A further increase in pressure does not decrease ignition delay. For pressures up to 3 MPa and inlet air temperatures from 680 K to 810 K, ignition delay can be expressed by the following empirical equation: Tig=2.1×10(exp -6) exp(92×10(exp 3)/RT)/P where T is the air temperature, and P is the pressure. The value of E is 92 kJ/mol, which is one half of the values previously reported for kerosine vapor/air mixtures.
