Note (General): Null-Collision(NC)及びTime-Counter(TC)直接シミュレーション・モンテカルロ法の定量的比較を剛体球分子の平板先端流れにおいて行った。時間ステップ及びセルサイズの減少及びシミュレーション分子数の増大によるモンテカルロ結果の収斂を確かめた。NC及びTC法による収斂結果は良い一致を示す。NC法における正確な分子衝突数の評価により,NC法はTC法と比較して少ない分子数に対して強いことが明らかになった。NC法に対する分子数の下限はTC法のそれの約1/3以下であった。同じ分子数に対するNC法の計算時間はTC法より10-15％多い。本結果は過去に公表されたTC法による計算結果とかなりの相違を示す。不一致の原因はTC法における不十分な分子数か不十分な収斂によるものと考えられる。
A quantitative comparison between the null-collision(NC) and time-counter (TC) direct-simulation Monte Carlo methods is made in the leading-edge flow over a sharp flat plate for hard sphere molecules. The convergence of the Monte Carlo results due to the decrease in the time step and cell size and due to the increase in the number of simulation molecules is ascertained; the convergent NC and TC results are in good agreement. It is found the NC method is stronger to the small number of simulation molecules than the TC method because of the accurate NC evaluation of the molecular collision number; the lower limit of the number of simulation molecules for the NC method is less than one third of that for the TC method. The computation time for the NC method is 10-15％ larger than that for the TC method for the same number of simulation molecules (larger than the lower limit). The present NC and TC results are compared with the previous TC results and a considerable discrepancy is revealed. A possible source of the discrepancy is the insufficient number of simulation molecules (less than the lower limit) or convergence in the previous TC results.
