Note (General): 航空機は大型化,高性能化が進むと同時に従来の操縦桿・操縦輪に代わり,サイドスティックによる操縦装置が,また飛行計器はグラスコックピットと呼ばれる大型CRTを用いた電子式飛行計器等が導入されるなどコックピットの近代化が進められてきている。さらに飛行計器の表示デバイスもCRTから液晶フラット・パネル・ディスプレイ(以下液晶ディスプレイ(LCD)と略す)にと変りつつある。航空機用液晶ディスプレイは3インチ型TCAS指示計が実用化されており,5～8インチ型が開発段階にあり,実用化の時期も間近の感がある。これら新しい表示デバイスを実機に搭載するにあたってはその前段階として飛行シミュレータによる機能,性能の評価が必須であり,実機搭載に十分な機能,性能を確認する必要がある。今回,日本航空電子工業(株)との共同研究で8インチ型液晶ディスプレイ(PFD,DMD)の機能,性能および表示フォーマットに関して,飛行シミュレータによる評価試験を実施した。その結果,ハードウエアについては従来のCRTの性能と同等あるいはそれ以上の性能を有していること,DMDディスプレイについては使用目的に対応した表示機能とすることにより,その有効性があることが確認できた。
The so-called “glass cockpit" has been introduced in resent years into commercial aircraft, where large color CRTs are used as the primary flight instruments. In the near future，cockpit instruments using various types of flat panel displays such as a liquid crystal flat display (LCD)，light emission diode (LED) or plasma displays will be put into practical use ;thereby superseding CRTs. Among these displays, the LCD seems to have the most superior advantages. The National Aerospace Laboratory (NAL) and Japan Aviation Electronics Industry，Ltd. (JAE) jointly conducted flight simulations to evaluate basic functions, performance and display formats of D-size LCD displays using an NAL flight simulator. Evaluated, in this paper, were two types of displays i.e.，a primary flight display (PFD) and a digital map display (DMD). Simulation results indicate that both LCDs have sufficient functions and perforrmance necessary for actual use in commercial aircraft. The general outline and results from these simulator evaluation tests are described.
