• Note (General): 夏半球の極域中間圏界面領域（高度約85 ㎞）で発生する夜光雲を監視し、その出現範囲や出現頻度を正確に捉えるため、デジタルカメラを用いた既存の地上観測網を補完する超小型係留気球システムを開発した。中緯度帯の北海道で夜光雲が観測されるのは、極域にある夜光雲の発生領域が低緯度側に拡大する夏至を中心とした約1か月程度であり、日の出前と日没後の薄明時に限定される。この時期の北海道でしばしば発生する下層雲（海抜高度1,000～2,000m）より高い高度で光学観測機器を係留させ、定常的な夜光雲監視観測の実現を目指す。夜光雲観測のために海抜高度1,000～2,000mまで到達させる係留気球観測システムを設計し、各種装置の開発を行った。2021年7月13日から7月20日まで北海道名寄市にて係留気球の試験飛揚を実施し、海抜高度700m以上に到達した例が5回あり、最高到達高度は1,200m以上であった。光学観測機器により薄明時の画像を取得し、夜光雲撮像に必要な光学性能を評価した。試験結果を基に係留気球観測システム全体の評価をまとめ、シミュレーション結果を踏まえて、夜光雲観測に適した係留気球観測システムについて考察した。; A compact balloon observation system was developed to monitor noctilucent clouds (NLCs), which occur around the mesopause region (altitude ~85 km) in the middle of summer season. This system is planned to operate combining with ground based observation system, which are frequently interrupted by poor weather conditions, to realize continuous observation of NLC. NLCs can be observed in Hokkaido, Japan, at twilight during one month around the summer solstice. We then aim to achieve regular observations of NLCs by a tethered balloon system capable of flying over the lower clouds (altitude of 1,000–2,000 m) that frequently interrupt NLC observations from the ground. We conducted tethered-balloon observations in Nayoro, Hokkaido, during July 13–20, 2021, to evaluate and optimize the observation systems and the operation procedure. Although signatures of NLCs were not observed during the period, the balloon reached an altitude of 700 m more than five times and reached a maximum altitude of approximately 1,200 m one time. Based on the observation results, evaluation of the tethered-balloon system and the operation procedure was performed by flight simulation using weather parameters.
