Note (General): オントロジーに基づく次世代知識システムのひな形とその構築支援環境の開発を目指して，人工知能研究における長年の懸案の一つであった，エキスパートシステムとは異なる新しい知識システム構築の理論的枠組みと実践への道筋を包含する系統的研究を行った．オントロジーの構築から始めて，ある種の知識システムを構築する過程において必要となる諸事項を体系的にまとめると共に，それを体現した構築支援環境の一例を構築した．また，そのようなシステムを構築する基礎理論と方法論を書物にまとめて出版した． : Aiming at development of a methodology for building the next-generation knowledge systems, I conducted a systematic research employing ontological engineering. It includes several ontological theories about processes & events, roles, and attributes. On the basis of these theories, I developed an upper ontology named YAMATO. YAMATO was used in a couple of real-world ontology development such as ontology of diseases. The experiences of building ontologies and knowledge systems are summarized in a methodology and all the results have been described in a book.
