Note (General): 古典文献学のみならず、小説、評論、ラジオ･ドラマ、翻訳と多方面にわたって活躍しているWalter Jensは、1962年の11月に『文筆家と政治』と超した講演をDie Berliner Kongreβhalleで行なっている｡その講演は、後にBonn、Erlangen、Freiburg、Marburg､Tubingenといった諸大学において繰り返されたが、1961年に行なわれたもう一つの講演とあわせ、翌年の1963年に一冊の本にまとめられている｡1) その本の短い『序』の中で、W.Jensは、次のように述べている。
