研究成果の概要（和文）：　本研究は、地方都市商店街の現代的状況を民俗学的視点から明らかにすることを目標とし、千葉県香取市および福岡県柳川市のふたつの商店街において調査を実施した。その結果以下のことが明らかになった。(1)実際には昭和初期に誕生したものであるとはいえ、すでに世代交代を経験した当事者たちにとって、商店街は「伝統」とみなされていること。(2)商店街は当事者のみならず、外部アクターによって資源化されており、小売店を辞めたあとも自宅として商店街に住み続ける住民の存在は「シャッター商店街」言説のなかで不可視化されていること。研究成果の概要（英文）：The aim of this study was to clarify the contemporary situation of “Shoten-gai(the local city shopping district in Japan) “. In order to clarify that, I have carried out fieldwork in two shopping districts of Katori, Chiba prefecture and Yanagawa, Fukuoka prefecture. As a result the following was revealed. (1) Though “Shoten-gai” was born in twentieth century, merchants have forgotten the fact. They regard it as a traditional. (2) External actors (scholars, NPOs, local governments etc...) regard Shoten-gai as cultural and historical resources. This is why the residents who have quitted the business are invisible behind “shutter mall” discourses. Of course, however, they are living still in there.
