顔の3次元的な姿の多様性を少数のパラメータで表現する3次元モーフィングモデルは,顔を3次元計測して得られるデータに主成分分析を適用することによって得られる.その構築を自動化するための重要な課題は,個々の顔を3次元計測して得られる距離画像間での位置合わせと双方の対応関係を検出することによって,顔の持つ形状を多次元ベクトルとして表現することである.本論文では, TCP (Iterative Closest Point)アルゴリズムを用いて顔の多次元ベクトル化を実現する手法を提案する.そして本手法の有効性を,カラー情報を用いた特徴点間の対応付けによって多次元ベクトルを求める従来法と比較して,得られた多次元ベクトルを用いた個人識別実験の結果によって検証する.また,3次元モーフィングモデルの応用の一例として,顔が与える性差に関する印象を操作した結果を示す.
Morphable 3D Face model describes the variation of appearances of human faces in terms of a smaller number of parameters is obtained by applying the principal component analysis to a set of high dimensional vectors representing 3D shape and texture of the faces. The key issue in obtaining the vector representation of 3D faces is registration of range images of different faces captured by a range finder. In this paper, we propose a new method that automatically represents 3D shape of the face in a form of high dimensional vector by using ICP algorithm. Results of personal identification experiment confirmed superiority of the proposed method to the previous approach based on extraction of landmark feature points by means of color information. Finally, an application of the morphable 3D Face model is demonstrated in impression transformation of 3D face data.
