研究成果の概要 (和文) : 本研究の目的は、日本の国際競争力を高める直接投資の特性やプロセスを探求することである。日本の製造業企業の戦略タイプを調べ、それぞれの企業の直接投資への姿勢や投資目的を調べた。その結果、探索型傾向が高い企業ほど直接投資に積極的であり、防衛型傾向が高い企業は直接投資に消極的であること、探索型傾向が高い企業は日本･第三国への輸出を目的とする複合型直接投資が多い一方、防衛型傾向が高い企業は現地生産、販売拠点といった垂直型、水平型直接投資が多いことがわかった。日本企業に多い分析型傾向が高い企業は、直接投資姿勢、直接投資目的とも、探索型に追随する形ではあるが、中間的な値を取っている。
研究成果の概要 (英文) : The purpose of this project is that clarifies the characteristics and process of the foreign direct investment (FDI) which improve Japanese competitiveness. First we identify the strategic types of Japanese manufacturing firms, and examine each firm’s attitude and purpose of the FDI. We find that the firms with Prospector tendency are more aggressive in FDI, and the firms with Defender tendency are more negative. The firms with Prospector tendency make FDI whose purpose is to export the third country or Japan (Complex Integration), while the firms with Defender tendency make FDI whose purpose is to sell the host country (Horizontal FDI) or fragment production process (Vertical FDI). Many Japanese manufacturing firms has Analyzer tendency, and their attitude and purpose of FDI is in between the Prospectors and the Defenders.
