書法理論に、〈勢〉に関する語意、術語である〈筆勢〉、〈体勢〉、〈骨勢〉などが早くも用いられることが明白である。語意の解明と術語の解釈によって、書論の〈勢〉の基本態勢を解くことができ、〈勢〉と関連する概念がまとめられる。この概念は、〈象〉〈形〉〈力〉に分けられる。それらは、〈勢〉に緊密なつながりを持ち、〈勢〉を生み出す要素である。この三つの概念を中心として、それぞれに〈勢〉とのつながりを解くと共に、〈勢〉の特性を取り上げることができる。この特性を通して、〈勢〉に対しての理解が更に明晰になるかもしれない。本論文は、序章、第一章〈勢〉の基本構造、概念、術語、第二章〈象〉と〈勢〉、第三章〈形〉と〈勢〉、第四章〈力〉と〈勢〉、第五章〈勢〉の特性、終章、附章からなるものである。
