Note (General): 本研究は、明治から大正にかけての近代日本における茶会記録から、近代数寄者に関連した蒐集品の中から掛軸に関する記述を抽出し、近代数寄者の中でも絶大な権力があった益田鈍翁(本名孝一八四八～一九三八)を中心に近代数寄者における審美意識について考察した内容である。これまでの文献の明治時代からの経済的要素を用いた近代数寄者の実像把握とは異なる視点である「文化的」な側面から再び考察した。尚本研究では当時の近代数寄者たちの共通の趣味であり数寄者らの交流の場である「茶会」に着目した。今回の論文では、鈍翁に関する茶会記より茶道具並びに収蔵品について考察していく。その中でも佐竹本三十六歌仙絵巻をはじめとした断簡から鈍翁好みと称した表具構成について言及し、そこから他の蒐集品の表具に関した記録から、鈍翁の審美意識についての部分を浮かびあげていく。この考察を通じて、従来の鈍翁における茶道の結びつきや、近代数寄者らの関係性についても、新たな見解についてまとめた。
