Note (General): 使用頻度が高ければその字形変化（変遷）は当然加速する傾向がある。同時代・同時期であっても使用頻度が高いとその字形の変化が早まることや、字形の安定化が進むことは西周金文から始まっているが、基本的に金文や小篆という書体は書写する"速度"によって変遷の影響を受けることはない。単に一部の筆画を省略するケースを除けば、だいたい無関係である。「之」字に限って言えば、草書の中には更に縦への傾向が強くなってほぼ縦画のみの字形も現れる。最終画の横画から斜画、更に縦画へ、という変化は書写速度という関係と、使用頻度の高さという両方の影響がなければ起こりにくい現象であっただろう。
