[概要] 現在の測地技術といえば水準測量や三角測量、GPS連続観測などがあげられる。これらは各々向き・不向きがあり、それぞれの欠点を補う形で行われている。人工衛星、リモートセンシングが発達してきてからは、それらだけでは補えない多くの方法・衛星を利用して地表の地質・地理・地形情報を観測・計測できるようになっている。本研究ではその中で合成開口レーダー（Synthetic Aperture Radar: SAR）と呼ばれる衛星データを利用し、地表変動の検出を試みた。研究エリアは房総半島外房九十九里エリアを対象とする。この地域では南にプレートの三重会合点が存在し、例年半島全域が変動を起こしている。さらに地下水や水溶性天然ガスの引き上げに起因する地盤沈下も進行していると予想されている。これらはそれぞれが別個に生じるもので、災害の防止のためにもメカニズムを特定しなければならない。これらの監視・予防・把握のためにもInSARの利用は有用であろう。JERS-1 SARデータ解析において、いくつかのペアで共通の地表変動が確認された。この変動は現実に起こった変動と考えられる。またERS-1では、平野部においてよい干渉が得られ、干渉画像は水準測量の結果と比べても整合的であった。しかしJERS-1解析過程においては干渉画像の両端に現れる縞を除去することができなかった。これはJERS-1 SAR衛星のもつ軌道情報の不正確さに起因するものと考えられ、今後の課題となった。
