[はじめに]閉鎖型苗生産システム（以下、閉鎖型システム）では、システム内の環境を人為的に制御できることから、温室などの開放型苗生産システム（以下、開放型システム）と比べて、高品質な苗を計画的、かつ容易に生産できると考えられる。ここで、閉鎮型システムとは壁面を光に不透明な断然材で囲われた空間を利用して、蛍光灯などの人工光を用いて苗を生産するシステムである。これまでに、閉鎖型および開放型システムにおいて苗を育成し、苗およびその定植後の生育を比較した例は少ない。木実験では、閉鎮型および開放型システムにおいて、ハクサイセル成型苗を育成し、苗およびその定植後の生育を比較した。
