[はじめに]多品種にわたる植物の効率的大規模生産を目的として、植物個体群（苗トレイ）を管理単位とし、自律分散制御方式を用いた生産管理手法が提案され(Hoshiら1999、2000)、プロトタイプが開発された（林ら1999、2000)。この生産管理手法を、古在ら(1999、2000)が提案し千葉大学に建設された閉鎖型苗生産工場（以下、苗工場）に適用し、実装した。ここでは、開発したシステムのソフトウェアの特徴について主に報告する。
