[はじめに]我が国関東以西太平洋側に位置する施設園芸地帯においては，温室に関する太陽熱利用の中心的技術は内部集熱方式となろう。その理由は，第１に，温室そのものが比較的効率の高い集熱装置として機能すること，第２に，上記地帯では冬期の日射量が，昼間の室温を適度に維持し得る以上に賦存すること，第３に，温室そのもの以外に集熱のための施設や土地面積を必要としないことである。ただし，勿論，内部集熱方式には欠点もある。第１に，日々または月々の日射量が変動し，曇雨天が続くと予期通りの集熱ができないこと，第２に，運転費用は重油暖房のそれより低いにしても，初期投資が比較的高いことなどである。本稿では，第１に，内部集熱方式の特徴を述べ，第２に，内部集熱方式の熱的特性の評価法と制御法について述べ，最後に，各種内部集熱方式の技術上の問題点を，熱的特性の評価という側面から述べる。
