1.電子からの放出電磁波のフォトニック結晶による吸収によるエネルギー損失と光子放出によるエネルギー損失の計算に成功し二つの比較をおこなった。金属フォトニック結晶についてのスミス・パーセル放射の理論的な解析を完成し、SEMを用いた放射光子の観測実験と電子ビームのエネルギー損失スペクトルの実験の理論的な予言を与えた。これで、理論的な解析は終了し、スミスパーセル放射の実験を待つばかりとなった。2.円筒上誘電体や球状誘電体が、周期系ではないが、隣接単位間の距離がある程度の距離を置いて離れているという制限を加えたuniformly distributed photonic scatterers (UDPS)という新しい系を提唱し、この系の有効性を明らかにした。とくに、UDPSでは、系の周期性なしで光速ゼロの光子の状態を実現できるという注目すべき結果を得、光導波路などデバイスへの応用を提案した。3.円座標周期系ともいうべき新しい系での光子の性質を調べ、入射光の方向に依存しない周波数帯域に状態密度がほぼ消滅する領域が出現することを明らかにした。全方位バンドギャップの簡便な実現法としてのデバイスへの応用を提案した。4.外部光から完全に遮断されたフォトニックバンド状態に光子を送り込む方法の提案を行い、この状態がQ値無限大の「光子だめ」として利用価値があることを明らかにした。さらに電子ビームを用いることにより、この光子順位から、溜め込んだ光子の取り出しなどがおこなえることも明らかにした。
