Note (General): p軌道の元素は前報(d軌道元素)の元素と異なりL. Panling. Mulliken等の唱へる電気陰性度の影響が極めて大きい元素集団である。電気陰性度とはMullikenは次の様に決めている。即ちA原子の電気陰性度X_Aは [table] PaulingもこのMullikenの尺度と一定の関係がある事が知られている。量子化学でσ, π電子密度, 結合次数, 自由原子価などを計算する場合に使われるパラメーターのクーロン積分(α)は電気陰性度に比例する。即ちC原子と他のO, N, S, F, Cl, Br等の異節原子Xとの間には, [table] 斯様に電気陰性度は分子を形成した時の軌道エネルギーを支配する重要因子であり是れを平たく言えば原子を核から押出す力と逆に核に引寄せる力との強弱を示す尺度である。従って電気陰性度の小さい原子は陽性に, 又大きい原子は陰性を示すのが基本であるが分子を作った場合は相手が陰性度が大きい時は陽性的に又相手が小さい時は陰性的に働くものである。是等極性的な性質を電気陰性度を中心に考えて見る事にする。先づ2p軌道元素の原子番号(5)のB元素から述べる。
