The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of noise on workmen in the press shops. The subjects were 282 workmen in the press shops in 10 factories. Hearing thresholds in dB were examined against test frequencies of 250,500,1K, 2K, 4K, and 8K Hz, respectively. The noise characteristics observed in the factories was 109dB (A) with the peak SPL of 1000Hz. Hearing loss dB can be predicted as a function of workmen's years of age as follows : y=-1. 4x+12.1. About 38% of 282 workmen seemed to suffer from occupational hard hearing.
