Note (General): In this study, uni-directional loading and bi-directional loading hybrid tests were conducted for concrete filled square sectional steel bridge piers. By comparing the seismic response of piers loaded uni-and bi-directionally, it was found that the restoring force of piers under realistic bi-literal excitation, was lower than the predicted based on uni-direction loading. The response displacement due to the bi-lateral loading tests, was larger than the uni-directioal loading results. Also from comparing the hybrid test result with unfilled type piers, it is clarified that the concrete filled steel piers have better seismic performance under both uni-directional and bi-directional ground motion excitation.
