表紙に「諸留帳　天保四年六月吉日」とある。本文中に天保１０年（１８３９）の記事が見えるので、天保４〜１０年（１８３３〜３９）ごろの個人の覚書をまとめたものと考えられる。本書の筆者・所持者は明らかでないが、記事に天保９年改の「西幸崎家数・牛数・人数覚」があり、西幸崎（現岡山市南水門町）にゆかりの人と推測される。記事は、貨幣、金類相場、穀物の目方、西幸崎の家数・人数・牛数、村中旦那寺、田畑面積、備前８郡の名、邑久郡の村名、願書・奉公人請状・覚書などの書類の雛形、備前国の各郡の村数、葬式の次第、味噌・醤油の作り方など、広い範囲におよんでいる。
