- ペン書、200字詰原稿用紙(満寿屋製)、15枚目は略歴の記載。『あとや先き』(中央公論社 1993年)に、改題 私の中の「ふるさと」 として所収。1990年頃のエッセイ。被爆した友人や『樹影』の主人公のモデルとなった画家・池野清など長崎の人々のことが紹介されている。また、原爆投下当時長崎にいなかった自分が原爆を題材にした作品を書きうるのかと葛藤したこと、『樹影』の執筆を決意させた池野の作品について、そしてこの作品を完成させたことで長崎と自分の縁が強まったことを回想している。
