The series Uncle Johns drolleries (including Dash's holiday) was advertised in McLoughlin Bros., Inc. publisher's catalogues between 1876 and at least 1886. Issue in hand has chromolithographed pictures on upper and lower cover. This style of pictorial binding is similar to another title in the Uncle John's drolleries series, Dash's holiday, that was issued ca. 1884.
