Note (Ownership and Custodial History): 資料の来歴: 赤堀最・菊旧蔵. カリフォルニア大学ロサンゼルス校図書館特別コレクション部原蔵日系アメリカ人研究プロジェクト米国における日本人に関する資料コレクション (Collection Number: 2010). 2001年度から2003年度にかけて原所蔵機関にマイクロフィルムへの撮影を依頼して収集
旧蔵者: 赤堀最 (アカホリマサル) は, 1884年徳島県生まれ. 1904年に渡米, サンフランシスコにて邦字紙の記者となる. 1919年に帰国し東京で読売新聞記者を務め, 1922年に米国に戻る. 1924-1933年, ロサンゼルスのリトル・トウキョウに法律事務所を開き, 司法書士や法廷通訳, その他の事業に従事. 1933年9月, カリフォルニアのターミナル島からシアトルに移り, 『大北日報』編集長, 『日米新聞』太平洋北西地域通信員となる. 1941年12月から1944年2月までモンタナ州ミズーラで抑留される. 1944年3月, テキサス州クリスタル市収容所に家族とともに抑留され, 1946年5月まで同地にとどまる. ロサンゼルスに転居した後, 同地でThe Town Crier 刊行. 赤堀菊は神奈川県生まれ. 1921年に渡米し, 1935年に赤堀と再婚
