- "Friedrich Schleiermacher hielt 1819, 1825 und 1832/33 Vorlesungen über die Ästhetik an der Berliner Universität. Ästhetik ist für Schleiermacher eine aus der Ethik hervorgehende kritische Disziplin, die vielfach mit der Religion korreliert. In ihr entwickelt er eine Philosophie der Kunstproduktion ausgehend von der Stimmung, dem Gefühl und der Besinnung und reflektiert die Formen ihres Ausdrucks in systematischem Bezug auf die schönen Künste. Schleiermachers Philosophie der Kunst steht im kritischen Gedankenaustausch mit zeitgenössischen Positionen der klassischen deutschen Philosophie und rekurriert in einigen Hinsichten auf frühromantische Ansichten, die in seine sozial- und kulturhistorische Konzeption der Kunst aufgenommen werden."
