- 解説：弟の三郎だけがやまなしをもぐことが出来たのはどうしてなのかと考えさせる昔話である。笹や木の葉のささやき、鳥の鳴き声、ふくべのゆれる音など、自然を感じとる者だけが山に入ることが許され不思議な果実を手にすることもできる。山の掟を守ることの大切さが語られている。化け物を退治して二人の兄を助け、母の病も治り、家族が幸せに暮らすことが出来たという、すぐれた完型昔話である。
