原装共紙表紙本を合綴、覆表紙を付す。丁数は各冊前後原表紙を含む（本文は各冊１０丁）。著者柳水亭種清は通称桜沢堂山。別号能普輔。浅草柴崎町の日輪寺に住したが、不行跡により寺を追われ、河竹黙阿弥に入門、嘉永４年より同７年まで番付に能普輔の名で登場。その後、柳下亭種員に入門、安政・万延期に芝居脚本を小説化した合巻作者として活躍。維新後、僧侶に復帰、小田原光復寺住職を経て明治２０年頃より酒匂上輩寺住職となり同寺で明治４０年没。８５歳。○筆蹟サンプル画像へのリンクあり。
