濃縹色表紙。○自序全文「水虎考略後編引／水之怪有水虎世人以其為罕見之物或以為有或以為無至臆断為鼈之老者予夙信其真有顧不獲的証則猶未免人疑信参半因以為此亦窮疑之一端乃鈔群籍及録所聞成水虎考略一書嗣後有所得更輯後編以其帋頁稍多析為上下二巻所収或確説的拠躋数十条予又嘗目撃水虎断腕嘱画工作図寘巻首蓋至此亡論天地間有此一物昭昈不容疑而又且庶乎水虎之情性形態呈露靡遺矣予意稗史之浩瀚知悉之衆夥続輯所聞未必不更成巻顧道徳性命天地神鬼理之当格者無数今於為昧々而於一水虎紀述至三巻之多大顛倒格物之序亦可恥也因輒不復輯姑題其所已編者以棄于究焉己亥如月初吉 黙釣道人識」。
