大槻文彦著。明治6(1873)年6月発行。本書は『琉球新誌』2冊組のうちの上巻にあたる。幕末~明治期の琉球研究をまとめた書である。地誌・気候・地質・物産・国名・史記・系統(王統)ほかについて記されている。上巻扉頁に「煙雨楼蔵版」、自序の頁に「慶應義塾図書館」「宝玲文庫」「完氏図書」の印記がある。著者の大槻文彦(おおつき・ふみひこ:1847-1928)は、国語辞典『言海』の編纂者。「煙雨楼」は香川県出身の医学者・詩人である長尾折三(ながお・せつぞう)のペンネームである。(2017年4月6日更新)
Written by Ōtsuki Fumihiko. Issued in June 1873. This book is the first volume of Ryukyu Shinshi which is a set of two volumes. It presents the results of research about Ryukyu from the end of Edo period to Meiji period. The first volume includes sections on geography, climate, geology, products, names for the country, history and dynastic charts. Inside the book, there is a note of "the edition owned by En'urō"on the book cover page, and on the page of the preface written by the author, there are stamps of "Keiōgijuku toshokan", "Hawley bunko" and "Kan'uji tosho". Ōtsuki Fumihiko (1847-1928) , the author is the editor of Japanese dictionary Genkai. "Enurō"is the pen name of Nagao Setsuzō who was a medical scientist and also was a poet from Kagawa.(Updated on November 4, 2022)
