Temporary closure of the Tokyo Main Library, the Kansai-kan and the International Library of Children's Literature in May
The Tokyo Main Library, the Kansai-kan and the International Library of Children's Literature (ILCL) will be closed on the following dates, as we undertake preparations to update our computer systems. In addition, all three facilities will be closed on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 (for refiling).

Tokyo Main Library: May 21 (Thu.)–23 (Sat.), 25 (Mon.), 2026
Kansai-kan: May 7 (Thu.), 21 (Thu.)–23 (Sat.), 25 (Mon.), 2026
ILCL: May 21 (Thu.), 2026
The Researchers' Reading Room of the ILCL: May 22 (Fri.)–24 (Sun.), 2026
*The Brick Building of the ILCL will be open, but the following services will be suspended:
- Using materials in the closed stacks or the Researchers' Reading Room
- Photoduplication Service
- Using a terminal inside the library
During this period, you will be able to use online services such as the NDL Search or the National Diet Library Digital Collections, including user registration and remote photoduplication service.
