- 履歴
1913.1 カリフォルニア州ヨーバリンダ生まれ。1934ウィッティア大学卒、1937デューク大学ロースクール卒、1937.11カリフォルニア州の弁護士事務所に就職、1939カリフォルニア州で弁護士事務所開業、1942.1物価統制局入局、1942.9海軍入隊（中尉）、1943-1945南太平洋戦域で補給士官として従軍、1946.3 海軍除隊（少佐）、1947.1-1950.12下院議員（共和党）、1950.12-1953.1上院議員（共和党）、1953.1-1961.1アメリカ副大統領（アイゼンハワー政権）、1961-1968 ロサンゼルス、ニューヨークで弁護士活動、1969.1-1974.8アメリカ大統領（第37代）、1974.8ウォータゲート事件により大統領を引責辞任、1994.4死去。
