アメリカ大統領文書（presidential papers）の保管制度は、第1から第30代大統領までと、第31代以降で異なっています。保管のルールが定められていなかった第30代より以前の大統領文書とその所蔵については、アメリカ合衆国-大統領文書（第1-30代大統領）をご覧ください。

第31代以降の大統領文書の多くは、米国国立公文書館(NARA)傘下の各大統領図書館に保存され公開されています。

これらの文書は第31代以降のアメリカ大統領の演説、文書等を収録した公的出版物である"Public Papers of the Presidents of the United States"として当館も所蔵しており、文書の内容がインターネット上で閲覧可能なものもあります。
