要約等
Feeding experiments were conducted twice, Experiments I and II, in order to determine the effect of increasing the levels of dietary lipids in a high protein diet on the growth of rainbow trout. In both experiments, fish were fed on 54% casein diets supplemented with lipids ranging from 5-20%, which contained enough ω3 fatty acids to satisfy the EFA requirement of rainbow trout. In Experiment I, there was no significant difference in the growth rate among the experimental groups, although a slightly better growth was obtained in fish receiving 15% lipid. In Experiment II, both the growth rate and feed conversion were excellent in fish fed a diet containing 20% lipid, low in fish fed a diet containing 5% lipid, and there was little difference between the weight gain of fish fed on diets containing 10% or 15% lipid.<br> Fish receiving 20% lipid, however, showed a great increase in the amount of fat in the peritoneal cavity and viscera. This suggests that the excessive energy of the diet was deposited as body fat, causing an increase in fish weight. The fact that although the growth rate, feed conversion, and protein efficiency ratio were slightly lower in fish fed a diet containing 5% lipid, there were, in general, no significant differences among experimental fish receiving diets containing more than 10% lipids, suggests that addition of approximately 10% lipid to the high protein diets is sufficient to maintain normal fish growth.
