一般注記In our previous study, we constructed a synthetic peptide (SP) derived from enamel matrix derivative that had the potential to form hard tissue. Periodontal ligament stem cells (PDLSCs) can contribute to periodontal tissue regeneration. We investigated the effect of SP on human PDLSCs obtained from healthy adult human third molars. Cell proliferation and cell adhesion were examined by culturing the PDLSCs with and without the SP. The effect of SP on the ERK 1/2 pathway was investigated by western blot analysis. The proliferation of PDLSCs were promoted by SP, which significantly enhanced the cell adhesion of the PDLSCs. The ERK 1/2 signaling pathway was activated by SP and the molecular effect was suppressed by ERK 1/2 specific inhibitor (PD98059). We hypothesized that SP activated the cell proliferation and cell adhesion through the ERK 1/2 pathway. These results indicated that SP might enhance periodontal tissue regeneration.
